In the red box highlight on the bottom left, laying beneath the Red Book, this otherwise anonymous publication (simply titled TRAVEL) might lend some credence to the idea that the Red Book had something to do with the red travel guides produced at first by Karl Baedeker in 1820s Germany, which became the basis for all the world’s travel guides and guide books. But I’m dubious. Though, if that were somehow the case, it’s worth noting that Americans turned Karl into Charles Baedeker.

There are also issues of Travel Holiday laying about the hotel, but those are much slimmer than this volume.
