IDENTITY

There’s three books in this pile yet to be decoded, two of which I don’t think can be done, and one of which is extra frustrating, because the word Europe is visible twice, and the book reappears in Hallorann’s Miami bedroom, as discussed.

SYMBOLIC SIGNIFICANCE

Is it something to do with Eggmen? A walrus? Goo goo g’choo?

What seems clear is that the words that follow the two Europe iterations are different words, that look like “Open” and “Closed” as in Europe Open, Europe Closed. But I can’t find anything even remotely by that name. In case you’re interested in taking up this quest, there’s about a million books that start with the word Europe. I suppose it could also be “Europa”, but that doesn’t seem to narrow anything down.

Next literary reference: Trapeze
